Volunteer To Shop

Dayton Crayons to Classrooms (DC2C) is a free store for teachers from under-funded K-12 schools that serve children living in poverty in Ohio’s Miami Valley. In partnership with local businesses, individual donors, and community volunteers, DC2C lifts at-risk children’s level and love of learning by collecting and distributing donated supplies and surplus products for use in the classroom. Teachers from eligible schools are invited to “shop” for what they need in our retail-style free store in the Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley building in Dayton, Ohio.
In order to expand our program to teachers who work in schools that do not currently qualify for our services, a volunteer program has been developed so they can earn a shopping visit to Crayons to Classrooms. The particulars are:

  • Teachers who are currently ineligible can earn one shopping visit by volunteering for two shopping events (approximately three hours).
  • Teachers who are currently eligible can earn one additional shopping visit per year by following the above guidelines.
  • Any teacher is eligible for a maximum of three shopping visits per year.
  • A shopping visit can be redeemed by making arrangements with Crayons to Classrooms staff.

Volunteer opportunities range from helping with check-out during a shopping visit to stocking shelves of the store. If you know someone who may be interested in participating in this program and have questions about volunteer opportunities, please contact:
